Campbelltown Arts Centre, Campbelltown, NSW
Campbelltown Arts Center is a multidisciplinary contemporary arts centre in the heartland of South-West Sydney. The philosophy of the centre is to work with artists and cultural producers to provide opportunities for our communities to learn and connect with contemporary ideas and issues.
The Centre has operated a well-established Workshops Program, Volunteers Program and Public Program that to date, have had as their core focus, the visual arts. The participation rates for these programs numbers in excess of 3,500 per annum. In 2005 the Centre underwent major developments. New facilities include a 180 seat performance studio, a 2000 seat outdoor amphitheatre, rehearsal studio, workshop and exhibition spaces and cafe.
The first stage of Thinking Through The Body – ArtLab ’08 has been timed to coincide with “Mirror States” a group exhibition of interactive artworks curated by Lizzie Muller and Kathy Cleland.
Bundanon Trust, Riversdale residency
The second stage of the TTTB project will be taking place at the Bundanon Trust’s Riversdale residency.
Gifted to the Australian people in 1993 by Arthur and Yvonne Boyd the Bundanon property (which includes the Bundanon Homestead site and the Riversdale site) is located on 1,100 hectares of pristine bush land overlooking the Shoalhaven River, near Nowra in New South Wales, two and a half hours south of Sydney.
The artist in residence program at Bundanon affords artists, from all disciplines and from all over the world, the opportunity to reflect on their practice; the time and space to meditate and the facilities to create.
Performance Space at Carriageworks, Redfern, NSW
Performance Space will provide residency and public event support technical and marketing support and event management of the open studio and strategic support for experiments and collaborations that may spring from this residency.
Performance Space is a national centre for contemporary interdisciplinary arts and hybrid performance practice, located at the Carriageworks arts precinct in Redfern. As part of their commitment to supporting dynamic collaborative processes between artists, Performance Space offer a residency program for independent artists, artistic teams and small companies collaborating across disciplines, technologies and/or artforms to create new performative work.
The Residency Program uses in-house resources to support both R + D and creative development of new work. Performance Space will host final stage of the Thinking Through The Body – ArtLab ’08 project – a fortnight long residency culminating in series of talks, prototype presentations, workshops and round table discussions that will open our research out to a wider community, taking advantage of Performance Space’s extensive network of artists, scholars and contemporary arts audiences.
